On Enabling Secure Applications Through Off-Line Biometric Identification

چکیده
In developing secure applications and systems, the designers often must incorpomte secure user identifi cation in the design specification. In this paper, we study secure off-line authenticated user identification schemes based on a biometric system that can measure a user's biometric accumtely (up to some Hamming distance). The schemes presented here enhance iden tification and authorization in secure applications by binding a biometric template with authorization infor mation on a token such as a magnetic strip. Also de veloped here are schemes specificaUy designed to min imize the compromise of a user's private biometrics data, encapsulated in the authorization information, without requiring secure hardware tokens. In this paper we furthermore study the feasibility of biometrics performing as an enabling technology for secure system and application design. We investigate a new technology which allows a user's biometrics to facilitate cryptogmphic mechanisms.

Automatic off-Line Signature Verification Systems: A Review
The use of biometric technologies for human identity verification is growing rapidly in civilized society and showing its advancement towards the usability of biometrics for security. Off-line signature verification is considered as a behavioral characteristic based biometric trait in the field of security and the prevention of fraud. So, offline signatures are extensively used as a means of pe...

Secure two-party computation has been an interesting theoretical concept for decades, but until recently has been considered too expensive for practical applications. With significant advances in the design and implementation of secure protocols, secure computation is becoming feasible in practice. However, with the notable exceptions of biometric identification and secure auctions, the researc...
متن کاملTechnical Report: Multibiometric Cryptosystems
Multibiometric systems are being increasingly deployed in many large scale biometric applications (e.g., FBIIAFIS, UIDAI system in India) because they have several advantages such as lower error rates and larger population coverage compared to unibiometric systems. However, multibiometric systems require storage of multiple biometric templates (e.g., fingerprint, iris, and face) for each user, ...

As applications of biometric verification proliferate, users become more vulnerable to privacy infringement. Biometric data is very privacy sensitive as it may contain information as sex, ethnicity and health conditions which should not be shared with third parties during the verification process. Moreover, biometric data that has fallen into the wrong hands often leads to identity theft. Secur...
متن کاملCloudBI: Practical Privacy-Preserving Outsourcing of Biometric Identification in the Cloud
Biometric identification has been incredibly useful in the law enforcement to authenticate an individual’s identity and/or to figure out who someone is, typically by scanning a database of records for a close enough match. In this work, we investigate the privacy-preserving biometric identification outsourcing problem, where the database owner outsources both the large-scale encrypted database ...
